Above is the famous Mt. Hood in Oregon. It is visible just down the road but takes about an hour to drive to it.
Above is a view looking East of the Columbia Gorge where we live. That is the Hood River Marina and "the Hook" in Hood River, Oregon. The Hood River bridge is our connection from Washington to Oregon.
Below is the Little White Salmon river, just a short walk from the farm. This river provides world class whitewater kayaking to people from all over the country. It is a Class V river, so even the best kayakers sometimes get spanked. I've never run it. I have done a few class V rapids, but this river has high waterfalls and is pushy. Maybe if I were twenty five again............
This is Moss Creek located about 3 miles from the farm. It is a pristine deep aqua colored creek. It is spring fed and is amazing.
Moss Creek connects us to the earth so much so that Scot had to taste it.
There are lots of Mt. biking trails around. This one is called the Sincline, and its out towards the desert, about a forty minute drive. The Columbia Gorge has a wide ecological diversity from rain forests to high desert in a 40 mile distance.
Rebecca doing a shoot for National Geographic Explorer magazine, demonstrating the "layback." Yeah, she used to be a sports model. You may have seen her in LL Bean, REI, NIKE, Early Winters, or several other catalogues back in the 90's. I got into a few myself, but that was then. They like the younger look for some reason. Hey, maybe I could do a men's hair color ad now?
Rebecca here...yup, that is Scot climbing at a local rock climbing area out east from the farm.(He is not the only one who worked on this website :-)
One of the many beauties in the Gorge.
Here is Scot kayaking the White Salmon River.
The next two pictures are of the Wind River a few miles west of the farm. The Wind River itself is extremely cold but it does provide for a delightful and natural hot spring to relax in and enjoy.
Mountain biking out east.
